Electrostatic Speaker

A type of speaker that rather than using a conventional drive unit, uses a pair of thin panels instead (one moveable and one stationary). Negative and positive electric charges are passed over the panels to generate sound. In general, this type of speaker tends to offer enhanced stereo imaging (largely due to the lack of room resonances generated by the design) but can require careful placement due to producing a tightly focused soundstage.
