Enhanced Definition Television (EDTV)

A class of widescreen digital television (DTV) in the 480p format (480 vertical lines of resolution with progressive-scan). EDTV is considered to be of a higher quality than standard television pictures, but not as good as HDTV pictures (720 lines or more).
