Hertz (Hz)

The unit that measures frequency in cycles per second. It serves, for example, to measure the picture refresh rate.

Standard CRT televisions displaying a PAL signal use a refresh rate of 50 Hz. Plasma or LCD TVs may use a refresh rate of 100 Hz to eliminate the flicker problems.
