High Definition Television (HDTV)

The new form of television broadcasting, which provides superb picture quality with impressive surround sound. The highest-resolution subset of Digital Television (720 vertical lines or more), HDTV has a widescreen aspect ratio of 16:9. In order to watch HDTV, the viewer must have an HD-Ready TV, an HD receiver (set-top box) and access to an HD broadcast service.
