National Television Standards Committee (NTSC)
The broadcast standard for video and television used in the United States, Canada, Japan, Mexico, South Korea, the Philippines, Taiwan, and some other countries.
This broadcast standard has a lower resolution (525 lines) than PAL or SECAM (both 625 lines) and runs at a frequency of 60 Hz. This means that anyone wanting to watch American movies or broadcasts, must have a NTSC-compatible TV or home cinema system.
