Teletext

A free service, available through most televisions, that allows the user to access information about weather, news, travel and many other topics, as well as subtitles. Some televisions may feature Fastext, which enables quicker access to certain Teletext pages through using the coloured buttons on the remote control.

The BBC has stated that Ceefax (their teletext information service) will be phased out in the run-up to the UK Digital Switchover in 2012. Teletext will end in each region after analogue broadcasts finish.
